Historic three-storey villa and large garden near the sea in Jurmala

The ex-wife of Itransition founder Siarhei Hvardzeytsau has sold a historic villa on the shore of the Gulf of Riga for almost 7 million euros. Mariya Hvardzeytsava bought the house and its plot in November 2018 for 6.35 million euros, then one of the most expensive property deals in Jurmala. The current price is 450,000 euros higher than the sum she paid eight years ago. Publications at the time said she did not need a mortgage.

According to the Latvian Land Register, the new owner is Aliaksandr Shnaider. The deal was reported by Otkrito.lv.

The house stands 40–50 metres from the sea. The sale includes a plot of 7,075 square metres, more than 70 ares. The three-storey mansion covers 1,220.9 square metres and has ten rooms, eight of them bedrooms.

The villa was built in 1928 to a design by the Latvian architect Eižens Laube as a summer residence for the public figure Jānis Dāvis. In 2005 the building was reconstructed and expanded.

In the 1990s the property belonged to Adrian Dāvis, a former head of the board of the gas company Latvijas gāze, and Oļģerts Visvaldis Dāvis. It later passed to Ilya Segal, a former shareholder of the metallurgical company Liepājas metalurgs. In 2013 he gave the villa to his son Eduard, who then sold it to Hvardzeytsava.

Hvardzeytsava, born in Belarus in 1982, is an entrepreneur in communications. She managed the communications agency PRCI and was a co-founder of the Association of Communications Consulting Companies. Her former husband, Siarhei Hvardzeytsau, founded the Belarusian IT company Itransition.
