The Property Ombudsman has expelled Musgrove & Co, Tothill Residential Surveying Ltd and Coles Property Management from its property redress scheme over unpaid compensation awards to consumers.

The combined value of the outstanding awards exceeded £1,000, according to Property Wire's report on the expulsions.

Redress schemes provide a route for consumers to pursue complaints against participating property businesses. Expulsion removes a firm's membership after it fails to meet the scheme's requirements, including payment of awards made to complainants.

The action concerns the Property Ombudsman's scheme and does not relate to Latvia's property market. However, it underlines the practical significance of consumer-protection mechanisms and enforcement in residential sales, surveying and property management.
