Prague studio Šépka Architekti has designed Wardrobe House, a rectangular wooden residence whose unusual proportions and details reference a furniture-scale object enlarged into a dwelling.

The home stands in the Ořechovka district of Prague. Its tall, slim volume is elevated on leg-like supports, echoing the form of a wardrobe raised above the floor.

Oversized shutters can close across the building’s towering facade, allowing one side of the structure to be opened or shut. The move gives the timber-clad house a deliberately changeable outer appearance rather than a fixed street-facing elevation.

Wardrobe House was conceived as a prefabricated project, according to Dezeen’s report on the design. The project places an everyday domestic reference at the centre of its architectural identity, pairing a compact footprint with a conspicuously vertical profile.
