In early autumn, TVNET+ obtained a document on a plan to limit the shadow economy in a field where services are often settled in cash, “on the hand,” and without formalities.

The Saeima subcommittee on combating the shadow economy, which works under the Budget and Finance (Tax) Committee, has turned to auto-service businesses and called for a stricter regime in the sector.

TVNET+ reviewed the accompanying documents and proposals and also established the Economy Ministry’s position. The 19 October report says it will explain what is under discussion, what is planned, and what surprises could await owners of small workshops. The published brief does not set out the specific measures or the ministry’s conclusions.
